Author Note - about Date Night

Oh, my! Is it Monday already? Time really did fly this weekend. A thousand apologizes for not posting that second installment on Alyssa and Webster's date. I had out-of-town guests to show up (some expected, others not), which threw my intended blogging plans completely off. Folks, I didn't even get a chance to write Alyssa and Webster's second date, though I've plotted everything that's going to happen (and it's juicy, too). LOL. To make it up to you, I can: 1. Post an additional chapter of Predator and the Preacher's Daughter this week and just save what I have on A & W's date for Friday. Or... 2. Keep regular Mon-Wed postings and just make this Friday's DATE NIGHT extra long in order to give you a fuller meal of Alyssa and Webster's story. I'm open, so email me or leave me a comment here with your decision. As usual, the majority rules. Suprina

Pred. & Preach. Daughter - Ch. 4

Six years later “Ms. Bradshaw, why do you keep a Sunday subscription to a Georgia newspaper?” Yashika Whitlock asked the manager of the small Tennessee flower shop they worked in on that sun-drenched Monday morning. Despite the difference in their ranks, they both wore pink and blue floral smocks with their company’s logo above the left breast pocket. “I have family in Georgia,” Chasity replied casually. She didn’t even look up at the friendly shop clerk nearby as she flipped through the newspaper in her hands. She was in search of something…rather someone. Chasity turned to the metro section of the paper she’d brought in this morning. She quickly scanned the contents of that section for certain key names. Finding no Deweys listed there; she turned to the lifestyle section of the Bennington Gazette , hoping to find another picture of a beautiful little bronze-skinned girl featured in the ‘child of the week’ segment. Yashika’s large brown eyes looked puzzled as she put on a pair of gray...

Pred. & Preach. Daughter - Ch. 3

Unfortunately, Chasity would soon find out that she did not have her father’s support at all. Boise not only told her that he was ashamed of and extremely disappointed in her, he agreed with Marcos that the baby should be gotten rid of. However, since he didn’t believe in abortion, either, Rev. Bradshaw insisted that his daughter give the child up for adoption. Then to add insult to injury, he got on the phone right in front of Chasity and called his sister down in South Carolina and made immediate arrangements for his daughter to stay with her aunt until she had the baby. Feeling hopeless abandoned and confused, Chasity walked sadly back to her bedroom an hour later. Nothing had gone the way she’d hoped. Her heart was heavy and the smoldering anger she felt was quickly turning into bitterness towards her father, who couldn’t even look at her now, and towards the father of her unborn child, who obviously didn’t want anything else to do with her, either. On top of that, Rev. Bradshaw ev...

Pred. & Preach. Daughter - Ch. 2

“What do you mean you’re pregnant?!” Marcos roared, feeling his plans to escape unraveling before his very eyes. “I took precaution every time.” He paced the hardwood floors of his living room area as nervous tension ate away at his gut. Now Marcos really did want to run, run to the high hills screaming like a lunatic because everything seemed to be going wrong in his life right now and he felt so out of control. And Marcos hated feeling out of control. Chasity felt slapped in the face by his angry reaction and if she’d been standing, her knees would have surely buckled from the blow, sending her falling to the floor in a heap. She expected a lot different from the man who’d held her tenderly in his arms only hours ago and whispered words of love in her ear as they’d made love for the fifth time this week and it was only Saturday. The same man that had cried heartfelt tears in her arms after she’d given him her virginity six weeks ago. No, this can’t be happening. He must be just scar...

Pred. & Preach. Daughter - Ch. 1

That’s got to be the last time, player. You have got to leave that girl alone, Marcos Valdez thought as he opened the door to his off-campus apartment and slammed it shut. The gust of wind that ensued caused the tail of his red and black school jersey to flap angrily against the waist of his black cargo shorts. Marcos was scolding himself once again for sleeping with Reverend Boise Bradshaw’s daughter. Although Chasity was of consensual age at twenty, Marcos was starting to felt bad knowing that he’d pursued, wooed, and fooled the beautiful young lady at every turn over the last year just to get her to sleep with him. And now that he had, he found himself unable to stop. Marcos couldn’t be alone with Chasity for five minutes without it leading to the bedroom. That’s what they’d done this evening, that’s what they’d done almost every evening since she’d given him her most precious gift six weeks ago. At first the twenty-one-year-old thought his sexual obsession with the shy, highly pri...

Blurb for Featured Book

The Predator and the Preacher’s Daughter Handsome playboy, Marcos Valdez, should have just left that preacher’s daughter alone. Especially since he already had more women than he could stand. But no, he just had to have the very beautiful Chasity Bradshaw, too. In doing so, he set off a chain of events that would bring so much pain, so much agony that everyone’s faith will be tested before things can even think about getting right again.

Author Note

First of all, let me again thank everyone who read the lengthy sample of SIDE DISHES. It was a great ride, wasn't it? Secondly, I wanted to add an addendum to the LETTER TO READERS post. Sadly, the lady (Charlene Leonard aka Pam Gitzendanner) that inspired me to write that book died this past Thursday. Though she'd successfully battled breast cancer and won, Charlene/Pam was unable to recover from the cancerous attack on her brain which followed some time later. She will be missed by so many...including me. As a result of this misfortune and in honor of Charlene/Pam's memorial service being held on Monday, I will not be posting that day at all. Instead I will start featuring February's new book ( The Predator & the Preacher's Daughter ) on Tuesday. At which time I may post two chapters at once to make up for the missed day. In the meantime, I invite you all to go to my dear friend's website and check out some of her work. She really was a great storyteller...
